Microneedling: What to Expect
First, you’ll visit our Grand Rapids office for an initial consultation. In this session, we will attentively listen to your concerns and assess whether microneedling is suitable for your needs. On the day of your procedure, we will allocate 1 to 3 hours to prepare your skin and complete the treatment. Photographs of your skin will be taken to maintain a comprehensive medical record. Microneedling involves creating controlled micro-injuries with tiny needles. To ensure your comfort, a topical numbing cream will be applied, and additional pain management solutions may be offered. Some patients opt to enhance their results with PRP (platelet-rich plasma). If included in your treatment plan, a small blood sample will be collected by our medical staff, akin to a routine lab test.
Although microneedling is considered to be non-invasive, some patients may experience discomfort, often described as a warm, prickly, or scratching sensation, with certain areas being more sensitive. Post-treatment, your skin may appear red and inflamed, a common reaction known as erythema, and might feel warm for several hours. We will provide specific aftercare instructions to help alleviate these sensations. Rest assured, the warmth and redness are temporary and typically begin to subside within a couple of days.

Is SkinPen® Microneedling safe?
Microneedling is a perfectly safe treatment when performed by a licensed provider in a medical facility like Centre for Pure Skin. As an accredited medical facility, we are required to meet the highest standards of health and safety. The SkinPen® device comes with a single-use, sterile needle cartridge and protective sheath that has been made with your safety in mind. People that are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have some other medical conditions should not receive microneedling. We will discuss your medical history during your initial consultation to ensure that this procedure is right for you.
How often will I receive SkinPen® treatments?
Most people will receive at least three initial treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. SkinPen® microneedling can be part of ongoing skin health measures, so you may find that you’ll want to do another round of treatments once a year or every couple of years.
When will I notice the results of my SkinPen® microneedling treatments?
Because the results of your SkinPen® treatments are tied to your skin’s own natural healing process, it can be slightly different for everyone. Most patients will begin to see the most noticeable results within 6 to 8 weeks following their last treatment.
How long will the results of my SkinPen® treatments last?

What’s the difference between SkinPen® & Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 combines pin tip microneedling with fractionated radio frequency technology. What is a PRP treatment exactly?
When PRP is used during a SkinPen session, the blood is drawn into a small tube, put into a centrifuge, and spun to separate the nutrient-rich plasma from the blood. This plasma is then used in the procedure and is thought to induce a greater healing response for more dramatic and longer lasting results.
How many PRP treatments will I need?
